**Key skills and responsibilities**:
Complete the ordering, preparation, cooking and serving of all meals and snacks for children attending the nursery in line with Health Scotland Nutritional guidance ‘ Setting the Table.’ Should hold an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or similar qualificationMust have a minimum of two years previous food preparation and cooking experience within a busy kitchen environment **Meet standards set by Environmental Health Food Safety and Health and safety regulations**
- Liaise with Environmental Health officers, Health Protection, Care Inspectorate, Education Scotland and maintenance technicians when required
- Responsibility for keeping accurate and relevant records to comply with Cooksafe and HACCP procedures, ensuring all house rules are adhered to.
- Will require to undergo Disclosure checks and obtain a PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland
- **Ensure all waste in kitchen is disposed of appropriately, encouraging recycling and similar activities**:
- Be well organised and maintain a safe and tidy environment
**General**
- To communicate effectively with all nursery staff
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- To ensure all relevant nursery policies and implemented in your daily work
- To undertake other duties that may from time to time be required by the nursery head or owner. E.g. special celebrations or events.
**Professional learning / Measurement and performance criteria**:
- To participate in an annual appraisal.
- To take part in training identified by yourself and management in your personal learning plan.
- Attend training as required for operational need and compliance
- Performance will be related to daily, weekly and monthly cooksafe records and standards
- Elements of any Environmental Health report, Health Protection, Care Inspectorate and Education inspections.
- To liaise with nursery staff when assisting children with food preparation, cooking and nutritional tasks.
- Success can be measured by the feedback from parents, children and staff.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs of the nursery environment.
- Demonstrate the ability to self-motivate and manage own time

**Levels of authority**:
You are responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen
