An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within out autism diagnostic service, working closely with practitioners within the team to support long term outcomes for people with autism spectrum disorder. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking practitioner to carry out complex specialist autism assessments and diagnosis. The post holder would be an interested professional who has experience of working with autistic people and experience in signposting to other services. You will be skilled in developing relationships with the person and others who provide support.

**the key aspects of the role are**:

- To provide skilled autism diagnostic assessments (ADOS)
- To offer advice and signpost to appropriate services
- Create positive working relationships with the person and their families or others who provide support
- To communicate to clients and their families/carers information about highly complex difficulties, to ensure they understand and consent to assessment procedures and can participate fully in decision making regarding management. This may include giving unwelcome or difficult to accept information e.g. around the seriousness, implications or long-term nature of the difficulty.
- To provide written reports, presenting complex information in a clear and accessible way; reports may be provided to carers, social care, employers, colleges, GP’s, medical consultants and other allied health professionals. Verbal feedback is also frequently given to other professional (e.g. Health Visitors, Educational Psychologists), and SLT colleagues
