Recycling Operative- Immediate Start

ALS People are acting as the recruitment agency on behalf of our client for Recycling Operatives be based on their site in Peterborough Recycling Centre.

To assist the Site Business Manager and Supervisor in controlling and co-coordinating the safe and efficient operation of day to day using of the site in accordance with management instructions, health & safety and legislative requirements laid down in working plans, planning permissions, waste permit etc. They must ensure the delivery of high standards of customer service and care by actively encouraging reuse and recycling.
- To advise and assist customers at the Household Waste Recycling Centre regarding recycling and general waste and ensure that waste is deposited in the correct containers.
- To be courteous to customers "Meet and Greet" at all times, thereby providing exemplary customer service.
- To assist customers wherever safe, practical, and necessary.
- Ensure High-Visibility coat/ vest, and Safety Boots are worn at all times - To be provided by agency
- Wear and operate body worn CCTV equipment as instructed.
- Ensure the site is kept tidy at all times and swept clean.
- To pick litter form all areas of the Recycling site, all surrounding areas and remove contamination from containers, as required.
- To collect full litter sacks/ bins and deposit into the correct skip during the working day.
- Implement the Council rules and declaration forms when appropriate.
- To provide a prompt & efficient service to haulage sub-contractors and to assist them wherever safe, practical, and necessary.
- To assist the Company in identifying the unlawful deposit of commercial wastes at the facility.
- To report to the Site Operations Supervisor or Manager any breach of rules, act of dishonesty, malpractice, or corruption by any member of the public, visitor to the site, or member of staff.
- To assist the Site Operations Supervisor and Manager in controlling and co-coordinating the safe and efficient operation of the site in accordance with management instructions, health & safety and legislative requirements laid down in working plans, planning permissions, waste management license etc, including, as a minimum, personal compliance with the above.
- To protect the Company's ability to trade by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation at all times and especially that concerning health and safety in the workplace and the 'Duty of Care'
- To be aware of, and conversant with, the relevant details of the Facility Permit, Working Plan, risk assessments and SWP's, COSHH assessments, emergency procedures and other relevant health, safety & environmental documents as directed by the Site Operations Supervisor and Manager.
- Full driving licence preferred but not essential.
- Mobile plant experience preferred but not essential as full training will be given if required
- Experience in the waste industry
- Ability to work on our initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to work safely and report H&S issues
- Ability to communicate well with staff, customers, contractors, visitors to site
- Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather
- Experienced in roles which include manual handling
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility in job roles and staff rotas, covering holiday, sickness, and absence
- Be available for overtime, as and when required
- Well-mannered and polite
- Good Timekeeping
- Good personal hygiene

IMMEDIATE START IS AVAILABLE

Pay: £10.42/H

Working hours: 0800 - 1600 this will change from 1
st
April from 0800 - 1800. You will be working 5 days out of 7 and this may include the weekends.
