Waste Water Treatment Plant Operative

Operating the Effluent Plant is a major element of the site and will be required to continually monitor and maintain the effluent treatment plant to ensure the site meets all discharge consent limits put in place by Scottish Water and optimise the performance of the plant to minimise the running costs.

We are looking for someone that is proactive, conscientious and diligent who will meet the standards required on site.

Continually run, monitor and maintain the effluent treatment plant
Maintain plant equipment to a good standard so as to ensure accuracy and compliance and undertake a regular cleaning regime of pipework, bunds, tanks and the general area
Understand the compliance required from Scottish Water to ensure the discharge consent limits are not breached
Understand the treatment requirements of the effluent plant
Undertake continuous monitoring and adjustment of the effluent plant so that it operates efficiently
Ensure there are smooth handovers with other colleagues
Training of other colleagues, ensuring they can maintain the effluent plant when not in attendance
Undertake daily analysis of the effluent to monitor and optimise the operation of the plant

Experience is advantageous, but not essential as full training will be given
An understanding of the fundamentals of a water treatment plant and why it is necessary
Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor improvement activities.
Be able to demonstrate high levels of Health and Safety knowledge and awareness in the role on a day to day basis
Highly autonomous worker, with the ability to work successfully and effectively on their own
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to understand root cause of issues that arise
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good work ethic and reliability and commitment to the company
Self-starter and driven to achieve a high standard of work and quality at all times
Ability to demonstrate ownership, have pride in your work and add complete a task from start to finish.
Highly motivated and conscientious with the ability to fully understand the importance this role plays on site.
Be confident to work on your own, taking responsibility for ensuring regular tasks are carried out in a timely and efficient way.
Have strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately record information and to spot changes in monitoring records which may need addresses
