Seeder Operator

The Position Description - To independently operate a seeding machine sowing a variety of seeds into trays destined mainly for our mail order customers

The Position Detail - To learn the skills required to operate seeding equipment so that the person can work independently or in a team of two ( in peak weeks )To be able to enter seeding records into a computer Attention to detail is the important in this position in order to ensure accuracy of the sowings. Full training will be given. The seeding entails sowing a range of vegetable and ornamental seeds into a propagation tray, then watering the tray, and then entering the sowing information into a computer database and printing the tray label.

The Personal Requirements Have an approach that puts attention to detail at the front of their work practice. Although the person will be working independently, they will be part of a wider team comprising of 5 seeder operators.Show a positive proactive can-do attitude Ensure that their work area is kept clean and tidy. The successful applicant will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own area of work and be able to build their confidence to enable them to make decisions within their responsibilities.

About The Business - We are a modern medium sized Horticultural nursery, that currently employs 15 full time staff and up to 30 part time staff in the peak season. We operate on a 7 acre site and sell to a wide range of customers that include local and national garden centres, supermarkets, Mail Order businesses and organic vegetable plants to farmers.
