The Team Leader is a first-line supervisor who supervises the production of the section or cell which helps to drive operational excellence in Health & Safety, Quality and Production.

The Team Leader works under the direction of the Production Manager and closely monitors production to ensure that production and quality targets are met; ensuring that Production Operatives are correctly and adequately trained and that productions continues without interruption.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

To supervise Production Operatives and ensure the efficient running of a production section/cell and the whole production department when the Production Supervisor /Production Manager is absent. Dealing with issues or queries to keep production running.

To check on a production cell’s production and quality targets on an hourly basis by reviewing target sheets/boards. Handling or reporting any issues, as well as updating targets as needed on an immediate basis.

Inspect the different manufacturing stages and ensure that product quality standards are being met.

Publishing production figures daily using the production boards, noting the underachievers in red and informing the Production Supervisor/Production Manager of contingencies.

To train Production Operatives and Agency Workers as necessary on the job in compliance with the Task Instruction Sheet (ensuring the operator has been trained through the document). This will include training on H&S, quality and production targets while completing the relevant paperwork.

Complete the housekeeping audits that are on all production boards, ensuring cleanliness levels are met to standard, and reporting to the Production Supervisor the audit score and area(s) to improve.

Ensure continual operation of production cell over breaks times by arranging cover on critical machines.

To ensure that Production Operators are always engaged with changes. This may involve communicating with other leading hands to move labour between sections/cells in the event of breakdowns or lack of work.

Ensuring that job routes have been filled out correctly and rejects are recorded at the end of the shop order, including MRB’s are documented correctly and are in the MRB area.

Carry out the necessary production paperwork, all indirect work such as moving racks, filling and emptying ovens moving raw materials etc. to ensure that the production cell continue production and operatives can concentrate on their direct work.

Using their own initiative look for continual improvements in Health & Safety, Quality and working practices throughout the section, cell, and department.

To report any near misses or H&S issues to Supervisor and fill out the relevant paperwork.

Ensure all production boards are kept up to date with the relevant production operative audits such as emergency stops, house keeping audits, targets and any other relevant information dedicated to that production board.

To assist stock takes where required and ensure that all stocks are in their allocated locations.

**Skills and Knowledge**

Good Team working skills

Good Communication Skills

Technically competent in operating all machinery and running processes in the section, cell within the department.

Trained and knowledgeable in the materials used in the department.

Able to competently train others on the job to the required standards.

Provide flexibility on shifts to ensure production requirements are met.

Raising engineering fault reports and liaising with the engineering team on breakdown/repair statuses.
