**The role**:
UKTIN (UK Telecoms Innovation Network) funded by the Department for Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT), is a new body dedicated to supporting innovative new companies and the wider telecoms ecosystems to access and navigate R&D funding and facilities and create opportunities to collaborate on developing innovative technologies and driving the development of open networks.

This is an exciting project delivered in conjunction with Digital Catapult, Cambridge Wireless & WM5G. This role will provide you with a chance to be part of a Dept Science Innovation and Technology funded project to transform UK Telecoms Research, Development, and Innovation across all TRLs (technology readiness levels) whilst strengthening and diversifying the supply chain.

The role holder will work closely with the Principal Investigator (RED) and Academic Principal Investigator (Faculty of Engineering) to advise on coordinating Future UK telecoms innovation Capability.

**What will you be doing?**:
The UK Telecoms Network Specialist will:

- Work with senior colleagues from all areas of the University, Government Departments and Agencies and in industry, providing high level professional expertise and advice to support informed decision-making around the University’s response to Government Strategies.
- Influence and shape resources as appropriate to meet current and future needs of the University having a significant impact on the direction, strategy, objectives, and results of the University.
- Report on matters relating to area of responsibility that will have an impact across the University, using relevant management techniques to support informed decision making at the highest level.
- Develop new propositions that could arise from future UK telecoms innovation capabilities to bring together industry experts and research knowledge in improving regional and national growth
- Proven ability of driving telecoms policy and R&D strategy
- The ability to think strategically, and to be an effective communicator across industry, government, and academia
- Ability to speak with authority about future telecoms strategy and R&D
- Experience in presenting to media, technical conference, participation into standards organisations.
- A proven track record and knowledge of state-of-the-art telecommunication networks - preferably mobile networks and specifically 5G/6G.

**Additional information**:
This role is offered at 0.8fte (28 hours per week) and is Open Ended with funding in place until 31/03/205.
