We are looking to recruit Immigration Officers to join our frontline Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) team, which is being established in the Aberdeen area. This is an exciting opportunity to embark on a career in a rewarding and dynamic environment, as part of a new team but with the benefit of a supportive and experienced network of officers across Scotland.

Full and comprehensive training and mentoring will be provided, enabling you to carry out this worthwhile and varied role, with a focus at all times on operating safely and professionally.

As an Immigration Officer, you will work as part of a team of officers, undertaking a range of activities linked to our aim of reducing harm and protecting the public. As part of that work, you will be expected to operate across Scotland assisting with immigration functions and operations, and to work alongside ICE officers in teams based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as other law enforcement agencies.

Your day-to-day work is likely to include (but is not limited to) the following:

- Identifying, arresting, and detaining immigration offenders
- Protecting and safeguarding the vulnerable
- Responding to Clandestine threat at ports within the region
- Engaging with communities and partner agencies across government
- Searching property and persons including collecting, preserving, and recording evidence
- Conducting residential and commercial compliance & enforcement visits
- Gathering intelligence
- Conducting database checks and closely examining documents
- Completing risk assessments
- Directing officers whilst on an enforcement visit and conducting Briefings/De-Briefings
- Writing reports and inputting data on internal systems and handheld devices
- Overseas and internal escorting may also be required on occasion
- Driving official vehicles.

- You have the ability and confidence to be assertive, taking control of situations where necessary.
- You will be naturally inquisitive and must enjoy working as part of a team, in fast-paced and changing environments.
- You will have an eye for detail and the ability to work within the confines of legislation, policy, and procedure.
- Adaptability and flexibility are paramount, and you will have a strong sense of personal ethics and honesty.
- You will be motivated by making a difference to society and the crucial frontline work that Immigration Enforcement carries out.
- You should be motivated by learning & self-improvement and able to learn from past experiences.
- These are demanding and physical roles, so you will need to be emotionally resilient, physically fit with a high level of mobility, and comfortable with working in challenging environments both inside and out.
- You will be fit enough to undertake the job, and to pass the intense Level 3 Personal Safety Training, where you will learn to protect yourself and others.

If successful, you will be required to undergo and pass a health assessment, which is usually repeated every three years (although this can sometimes be yearly for specific health reasons).

When you take up your post, you will be required to undertake and pass a training programme, which uses a blended learning approach and typically takes between 12-18 months to complete (including a number of weeks residential training).

To carry out this crucial and rewarding work you will need to be an excellent communicator, with a good command of the English language (verbal and written).
