Role Background
ITPEnergised Sustainable Business team forms part of the wider Advisory team, and provides a diverse range of services to our client base, including:

- Carbon Reporting services
- Energy Management and Low Carbon Transition
- Environmental Management
- Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)
- Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD)
- Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) services
- Sustainable Finance services (monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, capacity and strategy development)

The team currently comprises sixteen consultants, operating in sub-teams focused on delivery of differing services in conjunction with the wider Advisory team and Environmental Planning colleagues.

Our Carbon Reporting and ESG teams are closely aligned and support a similar client base in quantification, strategy, benchmarking and disclosure projects.

Due to staffing changes and internal restructuring, we are seeking an experienced consultant to join the Sustainable Business team who can provide technical leadership in Carbon Reporting and ESG services, and can take operational leadership (or develop into the role) of the wider Sustainable Business service line. It is anticipated that the team will continue to grow organically.

Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Advisory, you will be responsible for technical leadership of the Carbon Reporting and ESG service. Your role will include the following areas:

- Technical leadership of the Carbon Reporting and ESG service lines, offering strategic guidance to and direction. Developing and implementing agreed service Business Plan.
- Project Director (occasionally Project Manager) of commissioned projects ensuring high quality deliverables (reports and/or presentations), managing delivery schedules and agreed budgets.
- Oversight of implementation of Company systems within team, including quality, environmental and health and safety systems adherence by team members
- Overview of team workload and resource requirements to ensure both an efficient team and the ability to deliver against client and project commitments.
- Business development with existing and new clients, identification of new opportunities and drafting of technical and financial proposals.
- Line management, mentoring and development of more junior consultants. It is expected you will directly manage a team of ~6.5 FTE.
- Coordination and engagement with experienced sub-team leads to ensure continued efficient operation of the team.
- Developing and coordinating Business Plan with sub-teams. Managing implementation of plan.
- Tracking of operational performance of team against Business Plan KPI’s. Identifying and management of required interventions or changes to plan. Monthly reporting.
- Supporting cross-service working and development of larger scale business development activity and/or proposals.

Whilst your role will principally be supporting on Sustainable Business-related projects, you may be asked to input and participate on other projects and initiatives, where required and appropriate. We will also endeavour to provide you with exposure to and training/work shadowing in as diverse a cross-section of the business as possible, dependent on workloads and client requirements.

Person Specification
- A first degree (or equivalent) in a numerate or aligned discipline, followed by a post-graduate sustainability or environmental qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive experience of environmental consultancy environment, preferably including both large and medium scale consultancy.
- Strong technical understanding of carbon/GHG protocol and ESG disclosures.
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills. Ability to work well with others and to elicit strong engagement from others.
- Strong client relationship skills, ideally with a developed client network and understanding of target business development markets.
