Join us as a Strategic Risk Associate
- This specialist role will see you partnering with the business and collaborating across the Risk function to identify, assess and manage risks within agreed risk appetite, using the bank’s risk framework
- Within this specialist capacity, you’ll make a vital contribution to driving a generative culture of Top & Emerging risk awareness, tracking solutions and strengthening the level of ownership within the business and across the wider bank
- Hone your risk awareness skills and advance your career in this fast-paced and varied role with a firm emphasis on your development

What you'll do

We’ll look to you to deliver a robust scenario analysis programme in line with the operational risk handbook and conduct and compliance handbook. You’ll also support relevant specialist risk activity, to build credible and realistic plans to move and sustain a control environment certification rating with risk appetite, with a focus on emerging risk.

Other key responsibilities are to include:

- Investigating queries accurately and raising with the relevant parties without delay and escalating where needed
- Assisting in responding to queries from customers and stakeholders promptly within in agreed timelines
- Providing a clear understanding of customer and stakeholder needs to deliver the most appropriate risk assessment and insights.
- Help to deliver quarterly assessments of Top & Emerging risks in collaboration with colleagues across NWM and in the wider group.

The skills you'll need

To be successful in this role you’ll need an understanding of risk and control assessment as well as good communication skills, particularly in relation to written communication and summarising documents.

On top of this, you’ll bring:

- An awareness of changes in trends, policies and regulations relating to investment banking and financial markets
- A strong interest in geo-politics, economics and financial markets
- An understanding of our industry and customers
- A thorough understanding of products, processes and banking systems
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- The ability to influence at all levels
