Our client is a unique international certification programme for marine ingredients and they are recruiting for a Fisheries Manager to join their small but cohesive team.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of all fishery elements of this ambitious programme, working with partners and stakeholders globally to champion best practice for marineingredients (fishmeal and fish oil). Our vision is to see marine ingredients recognised as the best and most important source of animal and human nutrition.

**Key deliverables include**:

- Secretariat to the Fisheries Development Oversight Committee (FDOC) and effective input to other relevant governance committees.
- Continuous development of fishery and by-product assessment methodologies that meet the requirements of the programme.
- Oversight of fishery and by-product assessors and assessments to ensure quality and consistency.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Manage the development, implementation, and enhancement of all fishery elements within the internal Standard.
- Act as Secretariat for the Fisheries Development Oversight Committee ensuring the fulfilment of their respective objectives as directed by the Governing Body Committee.

**Operations and Assurance**
- Manage the Fisheries Assessment Peer Review Group ensuring the fulfilment of their respective objectives as directed by the FDOC.
- Manage the relationship, monitoring and training of approved Certification Bodies that deliver different fisheries services.

**Internal Activities and Relationships**
- Work alongside the Chief Executive Officer to provide leadership to strengthen the Standard development process, to achieve the objectives of the Strategic Plan.
- In conjunction with the wider team, support with managing the reputation of the certification programme, including input to the fishery

**R&D element of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) System**:

- Support with the compliance of the Assurance and Operation Management Systems.
- Fishery data management and maintenance:

- Attendance at internal meetings and provision of updates and reports to ensure the team are kept informed of activities.

**Oversight committees**:

- As Secretary to the Fisheries Development Oversight Committee, be the main point of contact for committee members, deliver effective meetings, liaise closely with the Chair in the planning and delivery of meetings.

**Technical Knowledge and Experience**:

- Knowledge of certification programmes and direct experience working with a business related to certification schemes.
- Experience as a leader in the production of peer reviewed stock assessment(s) for fisheries and stock assessment technique(s)
- Understanding of fishing impacts on aquatic ecosystems and/or fishery management and operations and/or fish stock biology/ecology in a certification setting.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**
- Relevant post-graduate degree or equivalent in fisheries/ biological science, or equivalent. Experience of working with standards, either with a scheme owner or a certification body.

**Desirable**
- Experience of the commercial seafood industry.
