**LOCAL SCHOOL GOVERNORS - WEYMOUTH**

Ambitions Academies Trust is a successful Multi-Academy Trust providing outstanding education for students in our 13 schools - 11 based in BCP and 2 based in Weymouth. We provide education to accommodate the full school age range across our 6 primary, 5 secondary and 2 special schools.

To support our schools on their improvement journey in bringing ‘outstanding achievement for all’ we are seeking new members for our local governing bodies, the Academy Advisory Committees.

Our Trust aims for a positive and purposeful partnership with the local committees as this is undoubtedly of great benefit to all of the children. One of the most significant ways you can contribute is to volunteer to be a governor on one of our Academy Advisory Committees.

The committee’s main objectives are to provide support and challenge to the school, ensure that all pupils receive a high-quality education and plan for future development and improvement. The Committee monitors and evaluates the progress that the school is making against the targets set out in the academy’s Raising Achievement Plan.

The Committee meets formally with the Academy Principal once each term. Committee members also visit the school each term for monitoring visits and are encouraged to actively support the school’s events.

All of our committee members bring unique experiences, perspectives and insights to the team to work together for the benefit of the school. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to young people, make a valuable contribution to your local community and use and develop your own personal skills.

There are no special qualifications needed as the most important aspects of the role are to have a keen interest in the school and a willingness to play an active part in the work of the local committee.

The Trust has a comprehensive and supportive induction programme. Governance training, with access to the National Governors Association, and ongoing support is provided.

**Applicants will be invited to attend an informal introductory meeting that will provide an overview of the Trust and an opportunity to ask any questions.**
