We are seeking a highly motivated qualified Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP) to support the ongoing growth of the UCLH ACCP programme. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of Critical Care clinical practice and training, working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team at one of the country’s foremost Trusts and leading Universities.
It is anticipated that the post holder will work 80% clinically complimenting the junior doctor roster. This clinical role includes long days, nights, and weekends. There is a 20% non-clinical commitment where they will be supported to develop their own professional clinical portfolio and academic skills.
- You will provide expert clinical management and care to patients requiring Critical Care as part of the junior doctor medical rota. You will work as an ACCP within the Critical Care team ensuring prompt, appropriate high quality and safe patient care. You will prescribe an appropriate range of drugs as required, undertake appropriate investigations and instigate appropriate procedures and management for patients.
- You will communicate effectively with other members of the Multidisciplinary team and refer or discuss care appropriately with other healthcare professionals and ask for help when needed.
- You will contribute to the education, training and supervision of our trainee ACCPs, junior doctors and other staff at UCLH.
- You will undertake Continuing Professional Development and maintain and develop appropriate competencies.
- You will have the opportunity to develop an academic portfolio, including in the development of the ACCP course with the faculty at University College London

You will be joining a growing ACCP team. Currently we have a Lead ACCP and 3 first year trainee ACCPs with plans to expand our training programme in 2024.
You will complement the local ACCP faculty with an expectation that you engage with faculty and strategic meetings.

Our critical care service encompasses 4 units split across 3 sites:

- University College Hospital - Medical critical care
- University College Hospital - Post op Care Unit (PACU)
- University College Hospitals - Grafton Way Building
- Haematology
- University College Hospitals at Westmoreland Street - Post op Care Unit (PACU)

Across our units we provide support direct admission from our Emergency Department, complex external referrals and our elective and emergency surgical pathways.

The units have consultant cover 24/7, onsite day times Monday to Sunday. Alongside fellowship work there is also the opportunity to be involved with a variety of Quality Improvement projects, teaching and service development.
