**About The Opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to join our Scottish ecology team. The successful individual will join a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects both locally and internationally. We actively support the professional development of staff, through our Global Career Framework, Chartership Academy Programme, Employee Networks and our Community of Practice networks, which connect us to over 600 Jacobs ecologists globally.

**The role will include**:

- Working with our current clients such as Historical Railways Estate, Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland, Scottish Gas Networks, Highlands & Islands Airports, Network Rail, National Grid and a number of Local Authorities.
- Using your experience in collecting and assessing data relating to protected species and habitats to inform Ecological Impact Assessment and Habitats Regulations Appraisal.
- Working in multidisciplinary teams to assist in high quality collaborative delivery on some of Scotland’s largest and most complex development projects.
- Working with our team of 30+ ecologists including bat, bird, and habitat specialists to further develop your capabilities and confidence as a professional ecologist.
- Engagement with both internal and external clients, environmental regulators, and other stakeholders.
- A requirement to work throughout Scotland and occasionally the wider UK/Ireland including being away from home during the working week.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:

- A degree in a relevant science or a closely related field.
- Relevant industry experience in terrestrial ecology including experience in surveys and technical reporting.
- Working knowledge of relevant UK/Scottish legislation and best practice guidance.
- A technical specialism in the field of terrestrial ecological. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with expertise in botany, ornithology and bats.
- Good ecological survey skills and/or a willingness to gain further field experience.
- Membership of a professional body (or experience and a willingness to obtain membership).
