Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

We are looking for self-motivated, committed, and dynamic individuals to join our schools as Behavioural Support Teaching Assistants in order to provide FULL-TIME support to Specialist Schools in the Southampton area for an immediate start.
The specialist schools are unique and innovative learning environments providing specialist skills, care and education for students who have been unable to remain in their mainstream school for a variety of reasons. The aim for these schools is for each student to experience success and make consistent academic progress, developing their emotional and social skills along the way.
As a critical component of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the **social and emotional development **of your students, encouraging effective behaviour, and supporting them to **overcome any barriers to learning**.
We welcome individuals who are **creative** and possess a **flexible approach** to teaching and personalised learning. A **minimum of 12 months working in a childcare or education **setting is essential.
The schools will provide you with a variety of tasks and activities, including but not limited to:
- Working one-on-one or with groups of pupils both in and out of the classroom.
- Monitoring and updating behaviour plans to fit each student.
- Working alongside teachers and supporting with lesson preparation, behaviour expectations and activities.
- Providing individualised support for pupils and understanding their behaviour, determining the best intervention for every situation.
- Developing positive relationships with everybody, including families and members of the wider educational community.
- Actively engaging with students who are reluctant learners and resulting truancy or high levels of absence.
- Lifting educational and behavioural standards by being an effective role model.
The successful applicant should hold a degree level qualification, however, more importantly will have some experience supporting vulnerable young persons. We are open to discussions with individuals who may not have qualifications - but do have relevant experience. You must have right to work in the U.K. and access to relevant references from recent employment.
**Pay**: £80-£85 per full day, inclusive of holiday pay
- this can be increased for individuals with more relevant experience, and/or relevant qualifications.
**Hours**: 08:30 - 15:30, Monday to Friday
- TERM TIME ONLY
**Start**: Immediate following the successful completion of our vetting checks
**Contract**: Temporary, Long-term (Pending successful trial period)
