This is a great opportunity to join a growing independent ecological consultancy based in North Oxfordshire. The highly skilled and experienced team are looking for Ecologists of all levels to join on a permanent basis.

**What you'll be doing**:
- Monotony of work is never an issue; enjoy working on numerous projects ranging from small to large scale, independent to collaborative, local or nationwide.
- Diversifying your skillset so that you are a fully rounded ecologist. Look beyond specialising in one protected species and work with them all This includes flora, fauna, and habitat knowledge.
- Working with new and existing clients to offer tailored solutions whilst maintaining high standards of work throughout in both a technical and professional sense.
- Thinking creatively to solve a range of issues for clients through novel solutions. You will be looking into established and newly emerging fields of ecology, ensuring that your work is supported by science. You will also have direct client contact, sowon’t have to worry that your voice isn’t being heard.
- Assessing project proposals and carrying out extensive pre-planning survey work to establish baseline ecology for each site. From here, you will then conduct Ecological Appraisal Reporting and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
- Consulting with legal personnel to act as Expert Witnesses for public inquiries or court matters.
- Using your knowledge of conservation policy and legislation to work in areas some consultancies may find too technically challenging, such as nutrient neutrality, water neutrality, air quality, and urban pressures.
- Where required, you will not only collaborate with the ecology team, but also the landscape and arboriculture teams.
- Developing your skillset to become a well-rounded ecologist through a range of different mediums (e.g. - legislation training, protected species licences, client consultancy exposure, etc.).
**What experience you’ll need to apply?**
- A degree within a relevant sector, such as Environmental Science, Ecology, Land Management, etc. that highlight a strong academic ability and record. Additional postgraduate qualifications are of interest.
- A broad understanding of British wildlife legislation.
- A background in British flora/fauna/botanical survey work, with experience in faunal identification and survey work.
- Protected species licences in any (or all) species.
- Proven professional experience within an ecological/environmental consultancy or closely related field, such as the public sector or conservation body.
- Detailed understanding of British wildlife legislation and policy.
- Ability to produce high quality and concise reports. Experience of writing EIA and EcIA reports is highly desirable.
- Good experience of working within the identification and surveying of British habitats and flora.
- Good experience of identifying British fauna and conducting protected species surveys. In addition to this, you will require knowledge and experience of protected species mitigation and licensing.
