If you are, then a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Children’s Services, We have a permanent (30 hours) Administrative Officer - Minute Taker vacancy in our Safeguarding Business Support team. This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way by working from home and at the office based in Dorchester as necessary.

We are invested in both the continuous improvement and development of our staff, together with career progression, providing full training for the position.

The team supports child protection conferences and offers the opportunity to be part of a team making a difference to the children of Dorset.

**What you will be doing**:
The post holder will primarily be supporting Child Protection conferences, communicating with key partners.
- Taking accurate minutes, checking and circulating to meet statutory timelines.
- Ensure parent/carers and professionals are informed of Decisions, Plans and Minutes
- Data is kept up to date.
- Working closely with other business support colleagues to ensure a consistent approach and service delivery model is maintained.
- Act as a point of contact

**About you**:
We need a person with great communication skills, who is an active listener with an eye for detail. You must be able to produce accurate notes and have the ability to prioritise your own workload and be confident in learning new processes.

Being able to multi-task and forward plan are essential qualities and you will need to be conscientious and self-motivated with a commitment to our service standards. You will also need to be someone that is able to work accurately in the face of conflicting demands and be able to demonstrate good literacy and strong IT skills.

The experience, knowledge and skills required for this role are specified in detail in the Person Specification and Job Description. However, in summary, this role will be responsible for the business support processes and minute-taking at Child Protection Conferences and other statutory and non-statutory meetings.

The role involves dealing with information about children, young people and their families. Although you won’t work directly with young people, much of the information dealt with is of a sensitive and possibly distressing nature. The postholder is required to have a good understanding of Confidentiality and Data Protection principles.

In many instances, work must be completed within specified and statutory timescales therefore, the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload is a requirement. As well as possessing first class organisational skills, the post holder will be someone with a sharp mind who can work with the utmost discretion, with limited supervision and deal with demanding deadlines.

Our services are customer focused and the postholder will be communicating with a wide range of stakeholders including partner agencies, families and professionals therefore excellent customer service skills are required.

The nature of the work is highly confidential and can often relate to emotional and sensitive issues concerning children and young people.
