We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our School of Education which has a long and proud history in education studies, SEND, childhood and community studies, teacher education and sector leading postgraduate provision. We have a reputation for outstanding graduates. You will be responsible for the School’s Education and Early Childhood portfolio: featuring a dynamic range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including our prestigious Doctor of Education.

As a key member of the School’s leadership team, this senior level post will require high-level strategic understanding of relevant external and internal environments and proven experience in the sector to respond to the intensive and particular demands this brings. A strong and nuanced understanding of the UK educational landscape, complex policy implications and regulatory requirements of the Office for Students (OfS) and the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), is essential. Effective recruitment and sustained retention, progression and positive graduate outcomes for our students is also a critical focus of this role.

You will be joining our vibrant School and Faculty at a pivotal moment of growth and opportunities. We are seeking an outstanding individual who is able to deliver excellent student experience and outcomes and also provide exceptional strategic leadership, planning, operational management, and partnership development. The Head of Education and Early Childhood Studies will be joining a passionate and committed community of academics and professional support staff which makes the School of Education at LJMU a special place to work and thrive.
