The Ophthalmology department has an exciting opportunity to join the Failsafe Team based at St. Helier Hospital. This role involves monitoring various automated reports and waiting lists to ensure patients are seen and treated within urgent timeframes.The post holder will be responsible for implementing failsafe measures to prevent issues or incidents from occurring.
The role requires an individual who has a methodical approach to tasks, pays attention to detail and has the ability to prioritise and organise their work. Expertise in using Excel is essential for analysing Failsafe Spreadsheets and databases. The ability to work individually as well as with different teams is essential. Excellent communication skills are required when liaising with patients as well as multi disciplinary clinical teams.
This 30 hour role can be worked over 4 or 5 days per week.
Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and various hospital IT systems.
Supporting a subspecialty team to ensure patients are seen and treated within recommended timeframes, with funding approvals in place as required.
Monitoring various failsafe reports and waiting lists and ensuring patients are booked within timeframe.
Liaison with clinicians, administrative staff and management.
Implementation of failsafe measure to prevent incidents occurring.
Ensure changes in policies and guidelines do not negatively impact on patient treatment timelines.
Working within a small team of failsafe officers and providing cross cover as required.

The ophthalmology department has dedicated outpatient departments at Epsom and St Helier hospitals and an acute eye service for emergencies at St Helier Hospital. This role is based at St Helier Hospital.
