We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Mental Health team at HMP Winchester, a Category B male prison just outside of the city centre. HMP Winchester has free onsite parking as well as excellent transport links - there is a bus stop opposite the site and the train station is a 10 minute walk.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. HMP Winchester is a remand prison with capacity of around 650. You will be working closely with Psychologists from local sites, offering vital support to your patients.

**Hours**:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:00.

**Salary**:
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £30,660 per annum - depending on experience.

**What you'll be doing**:
As our new Assistant Psychologist, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

- Working closely with the mental health team, including Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, Mental Health Lead, Nurses and Psychiatrist
- Support the psychological care of patients
- Provide psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of the qualified psychologist
- Work with people with complex needs, which can present / lead to challenging situations or behaviours
- Carry out clinically related admin tasks, including audits, statistics and research projects

Our new Assistant Psychologist will:

- Hold a Degree in Psychology
- Although not essential, a Masters Degree would be beneficial
- Have experience within an Assistant Psychologist role, whether in a prison, community setting, psychiatric environment Experience of working within a secure environment would be a bonus, although not essential
