Who we’re looking for

Ward Clerk

To assist the ward team, ensuring the smooth functioning of the unit through effective communication, general business administration and appropriate interactions with patients and the multidisciplinary team.

To provide reception duties for the unit including making outpatient appointments and prioritising and judging where action is needed in relation to consultants, nursing, patients and administration requests.

To be responsible for the collation of all patient records/x-rays for forthcoming admissions.

All activities will be under the direction of the Ward Manager, or senior nurse.

Applicant must have good communication skills both verbally and in writing, and work well within a small team. Must have good computer skills and experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel.

pplicant will be working as part of a team, and will be expected to demonstrate the trust values at all times. The Admin team is a small group here on Baschurch, applicant will be required to work a mixture of days and different shifts.

Summary of Post

Professional and Clinical issues

1. To be responsible for the preparation of admission lists for forthcoming
inpatient admissions.

2. To be responsible for the collation and co-ordination of all x-rays and other medical documentation. To prepare all labels and wristbands for forthcoming admissions.

3. To produce admission packs, photocopying all relevant ward documentation and admission papers in readiness for distribution to new patients.

4. Verbally welcome new patients onto the ward, admitting patients and
checking details are correct electronically on the Trust PAS system.

5. Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of the child, family, carers and staff. To uphold the Trust's Diversity/Equal
Opportunities Policy.

6. To have computer skills, supporting the Trust computer systems i.e. Lorenzo, EPR, E-mail, CQUIN, Oracle, SFR, Microsoft Word and Excel.

7. Registration of patients, inputting and collecting data on CQUIN, bed status, ward occupancy and distributing this information to relevant personnel and acting upon the information received. This may also involve the use of a photocopier and fax machines.
