Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) are currently recruiting for Cost Control Engineers based out of Abbey Wood. DE&S are a highly specialised part of the Ministry of Defence; ensuring our UK military customers - Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force
- have the equipment and support they need to carry out their duties effectively.

We are currently looking for a Cost Control Engineer working in the Land Domain, this will provide exposure across a variety of projects and programmes that deliver the government’s vision for the British Army and weapons systems for 2030 and beyond. Thisrepresents a significant UK investment, underpinned by the insight that your role with stakeholders and suppliers will provide.

In addition, DE&S provides a broad portfolio of In-Service support across Land Systems. All of which requires the key input of Cost Control (Engineers) working with DE&S Commercial colleagues and Project Delivery Teams.

We operate a hybrid working environment and the expectation Is that you will attend site around/approximately twice a week according to business need/team. Initially, you may/will be expected to attend more frequently to familiarize yourselves with the site,the team and the position you will be working on in more detail.

**About the role**

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Review Contractors’ proposals and assesses them.
- Lead engagement with defence contractors, the customer and other DE&S / SDA stakeholders.
- Manage cost engineering investigations, guiding resourcing and planning.
- Manages the analysis of bid data, guiding the investigation team in resolving deficiencies in the information provided
- Produce reports which summarise cost engineering investigations and provide guidance for negotiation.
- Lead a team of cost engineers and provide mentoring and coaching to ensure continuous improvement.

**Person specification**
- Extensive Cost Engineering knowledge and experience.
- Experience in the use of analytical tools and techniques.
- Leadership experience.

It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

- Knowledge and experience which meets the standards required to gain 'Enrolled’ Accreditation by the Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE) and willingness to work towards 'Registered’ level.
- Knowledge of single source contracting and the Defence sector.
