The Caretakerhas general responsibility for caretaking and related matters at the school, including, but not limited to the specific activities listed below.

While the Caretaker reports directly to the Facilities Manager, he is required to work effectively with other members of the Facilities Department, Teaching and Support staff within the school.
- Responsible for the unlocking and locking of all buildings on a daily basis, as per shift rota, including Saturday mornings during term time
- To hold and be accountable for keys
- Maintain security lighting, liaise with security alarm, CCTV, and fire alarm companies where appropriate
- To liaise with the Facilities Manager regarding extra-curricular activities and events
- To maintain such Health & Safety logs and records as required by the Committee/H&S Co-ordinator
- Updating the Facilities Department/Facilities Manager on matters regarding site repairs as required
- Carry out minor repairs in and around the school buildings, with reference to the maintenance logs and work schedules
- Liaise with contractors and maintenance companies when necessary, ensuring that any work is carried out to an acceptable standard
- Inform or liaise with the Facilities Department/Facilities Manager for matters regarding repairs, maintenance and purchasing of new or replacement

equipment
- Provide assistance and support to any outside agencies using the school facilities or equipment, such as evening and weekend lettings
- Provide the initial point of contact for the school’s contracted cleaning company
- Liaise with school staff regarding the use of facilities and provide assistance with the execution of events
- Maintenance of a weekly work plan
