Bronchoscopy Co-ordinator - Band 3

12 month secondment - 35 hours

Medical secretarial experience, such as typing from dictation, clinical alterations, waiting lists and validation experience is imperative as well as inputting data and coordinating services.

A flexible approach is essential, as is the need to be self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise, set tasks/objectives.

Team building skills are also an essential requirement of the post holder, together with an awareness of Trust policies and procedures and national access targets such as 18 weeks, cancer targets and outpatient waiting time targets.

The post holder is required to support the respiratory department with the booking and management of diagnostic procedures and to ensure patients are followed up post procedure as appropriate. This will involve listing patients that are referred from clinic, as an inpatient or from an external source. Contacting patients and providing them with information regarding the procedures as well as being able to assist with any questions or concerns that they might have. Communicating appointment and admission related information to patients and carers. Inputting information into the databases and co-ordinating the services as required. They will also be expected to follow up patients that are pending CT scans over the course of their treatment and highlight pending patients that are to be reviewed or followed up in clinic.
