Job Title: Nursery Cook
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Nursery Cook to join our team at Granby Wickersley. This position is part-time, offering 20 hours per week, and will play a crucial role in providing nutritious meals for children in our nursery. As a Nursery Cook, you will be responsible for meal preparation, food hygiene, and catering to various food allergies and dietary restrictions.
**Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and cook nutritious and well-balanced meals for children, considering their dietary requirements and food allergies.
- Create menus that meet the nutritional needs of growing children and adhere to relevant guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety throughout the cooking process, following established procedures.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and labelling of food items to prevent contamination and maintain freshness.
- Monitor and record temperature and quality control checks on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with the nursery staff to understand and accommodate any specific dietary needs or restrictions.
- Maintain an organized and clean kitchen environment, including regular cleaning and sanitization of utensils, equipment, and surfaces.
- Order and manage inventory of food supplies, ensuring efficient stock rotation and minimizing waste.
- Stay updated on food hygiene practices, allergens, and relevant regulations to ensure compliance.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably in a nursery or child-oriented setting.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene practices, safety standards, and allergen management.
- Familiarity with planning and preparing meals for children, including adapting recipes to meet specific dietary needs.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents, and nursery staff.
- A positive attitude, patience, and creativity when working with children's food preferences.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Basic computer skills for inventory management and record-keeping purposes.
- Relevant certifications in food hygiene and allergen awareness are highly desirable.
