Are you looking to use your buying experience and technical knowledge with a growing company? MacArthur Recruitment is seeking a Project Buyer to work in our client’s project team, responsible for major (and minor) contracts. This is a great opportunity to join a busy, multi-project team.
**Overview of the role of Project Buyer**
The purpose of this role is to source, as required, all items required by the project team within the business, in accordance with procedures, and to best possible commercial terms. You will ideally have a high level understanding of engineering eg able to read and loosely comprehend drawings, quality requirements and checks in a multi-project and-tasking role.
**Overview and accountabilities for the role of Project Buyer**:
- Source items as necessary to ensure that all relevant items/services are available to deliver all projects on time.
- Negotiating agreements for the supply of goods and services to meet project requirements at optimum costs.
- Support the monitoring of supplier performance to ensure that they conform to the conditions of contract and that they are a viable business capable of meeting the company’s needs.
- Liaise with Key Stakeholders to gain a full understanding of their requirements and ensure supply meets Bill of Material (BOM) detail.
- A good understanding of the Quality Grading approach for each specific customer as this drives the documentation requirements
- Taking a business perspective, support internal customers to implement effective supplier relationships
- Take responsibility and accountability of your Project Purchase Orders from PO placement to final Quality Clearance (including pro-active expediting throughout, minimise delays for production, liaising with stakeholders at all times)
- Work with Supply Chain and Procurement Managers on negotiations for annual contracts for specified goods and services for working cost effectively
- Identify new and alternative sources of supply to avoid over dependence on too few suppliers and maintain market competitiveness.
- To challenge costs and support the organisation in achieving the savings targets
**Qualifications and Skills for the role of Project Buyer**:
- Strong experience in a Procurement role is essential (preferably in Manufacturing and/or Engineering)
- CIPS qualified - desirable or willing to work towards
- A good understanding of commercial and contract knowledge
- Confidence and the Ability to Chair meetings for Project requirement with Suppliers, arranging meetings and follow up actions if required
- Proactive and ability to work in a very busy environment
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail when reviewing and analysing project requirements and costs
- Ability to meet deadlines and competing priorities set out by Projects to ensure Production Schedules can be met
- Ability to adapt to using new systems and processes to meet business needs
- Excellent communication skills
- To proactively manage Supplier relationships
