- A bit about you...- You will support our 500 scientists as part of our small and dedicated team delivering a comprehensive library & archive service. As an Assistant Librarian you will assist in the day-to-day running of the Library Service, help with developing the service and work collaboratively with other members of the team.We are looking for someone who has experience in academic or research libraries, working independently to manage and prioritise your workload effectively.Key Responsibilities:
- Library collection management
- Depositing and editing records in the online institutional repository, NERC Open Research Archive (NORA)
- Handling enquiries, book loans/renewals/returns and inter-library loan requests
- Production of routine publication statistics for Board and Trustee reports, and other bibliometrics as required, by using online analytics tools and creating bespoke metrics
- Advising staff on Open Access and publication options
- Cataloguing; creating item and holdings records using the library management system_ Heritage _Cirqa_
- Production of guides, information and resources for library users
- Advising staff on the use of online resources; user training and participation in the induction of new staff
- Undertaking other duties within the scope of the position that may be assigned by the Library Services Manager
- Here are some essential things we are looking for:
- First degree or postgraduate qualification in librarianship/information science or relevant work experience
- Experience of library work in an academic or research environment
- Familiarity with Open Access publishing and funder requirements
- Experience in bibliometrics
- We would be thrilled if you had:
- Knowledge of web-based information resources and tools relevant to a scientific research organisation, specifically _Web of Science_, _Scopus_ and _EndNote_
- Experience of using the _Heritage _Cirqa_ library management system
