As an Alternative Education Provision (AEP) we suport students who may face challenges in traditional mainstream educational settings. As a Teaching Assistant within School of Coding, you will work closely with educators to support students in their alternative education learning journey. **Overview of the role of Teaching Assistant**

**Classroom Support**: Assisting in classroom activities, which may include:

- Assisting with lesson preparation and planning.
- Setting up equipment and materials for lessons.
- Helping students with assignments or classwork.
- Supervising students during activities or in the absence of the teacher.
- Providing additional explanations or assistance to individual students who need extra help.

**Grading and Assessment**: Teaching assistant may be responsible for:

- Grading assignments, quizzes, exams, or other assessments.
- Providing feedback to students on their work.
- Recording grades and maintaining accurate records of student performance.

**Tutoring and Small Group Instruction**: Teaching assistant may work with students individually or in small groups to provide:

- Additional support for students who are struggling with the material.
- Enrichment activities for students who need extra challenges.
- Remedial instruction to help students catch up on missed concepts.

**Administrative Tasks**: Teaching assistant may be required to perform various administrative duties, such as:

- Setting up and maintaining classroom technology.
- Organising and maintaining classroom materials and supplies.
- Communicating with parents or guardians about student progress or behaviour.
- Attending staff meetings or professional development sessions.
- Provide daily progress reports for pupils to track their academic development.

**Teaching Assistant skills and qualifications**
- Ability to communicate clearly with teachers and younger individuals
- Ability to create an encouraging learning environment for pupils
- Active listening skills
- Understanding and sensitivity towards children
- Excellent knowledge of lessons that pupils are required to learn in class
- Ability to carry out tasks involving a computer or hand-device
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
- Willingness to work on different activities conducted inside and outside school premises
- 2 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D), or equivalent, for a level 2 course
- 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, for a level 3 course
- 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths for a T level
