Breakthrough in education are currently looking to recruit a graduate or student to work as a teaching assistant in a special provisions school local to the Lancaster area. The school caters to students with Social, Emotional and Mental health needs, and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The students' education is prioritized through the means of a school structure that suits their personal healthcare plans, and takes into consideration their physical, and emotional wellbeing needs.

Within this role you will be working alongside therapists, social workers, SEND Teaching Assistants and class teachers, in order to support these young people through their educational journeys. Breakthrough in Education supports its staff through every step of your employment, and provides specialist safeguarding training upon employment.

The Role:

- To support and educate the students via one to one assistance
- Understand and maintain your safeguarding roles and responsibilities
- To inspire learning in young people
- Encourage extracurricular activities
- Encourage young people to engage in therapeutic practices with the support of licensed therapists, high level teaching assistants and class teachers
- Ensure the classroom is a safe and tidy environment
- Support the exploration of outside play and interests outside the classroom

- Able to inspire and assist students from all backgrounds
- Have a passion for helping others
- Be studying or have studied qualifications related to psychology, sociology, therapy, counselling, education or care
- Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues
- Ability to remain calm under all circumstances and prioritize students
