**Overview**:
First Achieve’s Engineering Division have partnered with a global business in the Falkirk area. We are seeking a Manual Machinist to set up and operate a variety of lathes, turning centres and borers for their state of the art manufacturing facility. Monday - Thursday 07:30-16:30, Friday 07:30-13:30

**Your main tasks and responsibilities**:
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometres and vernier callipers.
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, machining centres, borers, and grinders.
- Measure, examine, and test completed components to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic turning & machining centres and machining tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
**To succeed in this role, you will need**:
- A recognised Mechanical engineering apprenticeship or City and Guilds qualification, or equivalent
- Previous demonstrable experience within a mechanical (electrical) workshop environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Numerate, methodical, and practical skills are essential
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
