**Your new company**My client has an excellent track record of working on infrastructure projects including highways. They are strongly committed to sustainability and monitoring/reducing their environmental impact along with being championed for the inclusivity.
**Your new role**
This role is to work with the delivery team on a multi-million project to improve junction 6 of the M42. The scheme provides a comprehensive upgrade of the junction near Birmingham Airport, allowing better movement of traffic on and off the A45.
You will:

- Assist the Highways Environmental Sustainability lead and wider Infrastructure environmental team in any best practice initiatives and delivering ad-hoc improvement projects.
- Be responsible for the collection of data and report against the project's monthly environmental KPIs
- Be directly responsible for a small team of environmental professionals within the project team.
- Be responsible for contributing to resource management, forecasting and succession planning, and providing required support projects and initiatives.
- Be responsible for ensuring environmental management compliance and best practice on projects and sites, and continual improvement.
- Provide advice, support and assistance to all project and work winning teams to enable them to manage their environmental responsibilities.
- Provide advice, support and assistance to operational and project personnel to enable them to deliver and manage their environmental and sustainable responsibilities and objectives.
- Assist in the development and delivery of suitable environmental and sustainability training for all project staff.
- Represent and promote the Environment Enabling Function in internal and external meetings, workshops, management reviews and forums - communicating best practice standards and initiatives

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Good level of environmental management and general sustainability experience preferably gained in an infrastructure on construction environment
- Experience / competence managing operations within an accredited environmental management system, including people / processes / systems
- Experience / competence generating and delivering improvement initiatives within an operational function or project
- People and team leadership / development experience and capability
- Demonstrable passion and commitment for sustainability, carbon reduction and environmental outcomes
- Degree in appropriate Environmental discipline or relevant construction/Highway Industry experience
- Have Practitioner/Full membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEMA or similar)
- Problem solving and innovative thinking
