The vision for Family Hubs is to build community resilience and self-help approaches that will empower children and families to access information and peer support to enable them to develop and grow.

In 2022, 75 Local Authorities were identified for Department of Education (DofE) transformation funding.

Peterborough was one of the 5 Local Authorities across the Eastern region to receive this Family Hubs and Start for Life funding.

As part of this exciting transformation work, Barnardo's are looking to recruit to a 30 hour per week Family Connector (fixed term to 31st March 2025) with a specific focus on Perinatal Mental Health and Parent/Infant Relationships, to work alongside our established Child and Family Centre teams to deliver the government's commitment as set out in:
**‘The Best Start for Life. A Vision for the 1001 Critical Days'**

The programme's objective is to join up and enhance services delivered in local authority areas, ensuring all parents and carers can access the support they need when they need it. Through a Family Hubs offer, parents and carers should feel supported and empowered in caring for and nurturing their babies and children, ensuring they receive the best start in life. This in turn will improve health and education outcomes for babies and children and enable them to thrive in later life.

A Family Hub is a system-wide model of delivery providing high-quality, joined-up, whole-family support services. Family Hubs will deliver services from conception, through a child's early years, right up until a young person reaches the age of 19 or 25 for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

The ambition for services across Peterborough & Cambridgeshire is to achieve sustained outcomes for vulnerable and seldom heard children and communities, giving all the best start to life and "leaving no one behind".
