**Background**

This is a fantastic opportunity to help promote the life changing research and education in the College of Medical and Dental Sciences. You will have experience of using a content management system and editing professional websites. You will be a skilled writer both for online and offline copy and have an interest in engaging storytelling, video making and social media. Finally, you will have the ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range and levels of staff and have a proactive and can do attitude.

**Role Summary**

The post will provide web editing, maintenance, and wider digital content development support to a number of areas, including balancing your time between working on proactive web projects, responding to requests for website updates and general communications activities. It will also provide communications support, working with a range of staff to identify and draft news stories, and using communications channels, digital and other, for promotion.

In order to flexibly use resource you may be offered the opportunity to work elsewhere in the department or across the University.

**Main Duties**
- Works with colleagues to develop, enhance and maintain relevant websites in line with the University’s digital communication strategy and brand guidelines.
- Takes responsibility for editorial and quality control of web pages
- adhering to standards, adding/checking metadata, gathering basic statistics from Google Analytics, and producing regular broken links reports and correcting errors.
- Supports the training of a wider editor group, advising editors on best practice and responding to queries in a timely manner set by our service level agreement.
- Is an active member of the wider team responsible for developing and maintaining our social media presence, ensuring that our digital content is promoted to the best of its ability on a range of media platforms.
- Utilising knowledge of web/social media to act as a champion for other users.
- Supports research communications activities, including sourcing and preparing draft news articles for promotion to our external audiences.
- Supports a range of internal communication activities, to include maintenance of intranets and newsletters.
- Supports the development of video production, for example to highlight research and teaching strengths across the University.
