About the service user
I am a 10 year old boy with Autism and ADHD. I can be anxious and bothered by loud noises and smells.I like computer games, animals, technology, airsoft, natural history, and science. I am very clever but struggle with some day-to-day things such as social/emotional skills and sensory issues.I prefer routine and familiarity. I need help to work on some everyday independence skills and to grow in confidence and self-esteem.
Hours and rate of Pay
£11.25 per hour, 3 hours a week on average, flexible, and support required during school holidays.The post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata)Enhanced DBS check will be required.
What you would be doing
Working on independence skills and confidence. Such as cycling to the shops together and buying a few things off a list, working out how much money to give and what change is needed.Finding my way confidently to local places.Learn organisational skills.Trying new activities, go new places and learning new skills outside of my ‘comfort zone’.Help to express my emotions and be able to talk about how I am feeling.Help to try new foods, widen my diet for my health needs.To practise social skills further: to understand not to dominate conversation/ interrupt people/ correct people’s mistakes inappropriately or in a way that appears rude / to let other people have turns at leading and let others decide the rules to games or what activity they do together etc.
The person I would like
You need to be kind, patient, ok with animals, open minded and adaptable. Punctual and reliable.Some experience with autism or mental health preferred. DBS check and trustworthy. Must have good social skills and communication to be able to teach them/lead by example.
