Community Vaccinator
Are you looking for a varied working environment? Would you like to develop your knowledge and experience of immunisations?
If you answered “yes” to all of the above, then being part of our expanding immunisation team could be the right opportunity for you.
We are looking for a number of Community Vaccinators (Nurses and midwives currently registered with the NMC; Pharmacists currently registered with the GPhC; Paramedics and physiotherapists currently registered with the HCPC) preferably with some immunisation experience to help deliver the School Aged Immunisation Programme in Primary, Secondary and Independent Schools as well as other community venues.
The ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the Service is essential, as is a willingness to explore alternative methods of immunisation delivery to reduce health inequalities in hard to reach groups.
The role offers a flexible working pattern, to meet service need. Although you will work from your base you may be required to attend other areas of the county, if required, either to vaccinate in schools or attend promotional events to increase immunisation uptake.
You will be offered the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills through regular training and study days and by working alongside experienced colleagues.
Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:
- Excellent opportunities for career progression
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
- NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
- Staff accommodation
- Competitive pension scheme
- Lease car scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
Applicants should be well organised with excellent communication skills. Good IT skills will provide a considerable advantage as we use an electronic consent system, and experience of working in schools or other environments with children and young people will also be helpful. This is a fast moving and very busy environment to work in so the ability to work well under pressure and to be a key team player is a must. We are looking for adaptable, flexible people with excellent skills who will enjoy working in a challenging and busy environment.
To ensure vaccination sessions commence on time the postholder may need to start from 07:45 on prearranged days, therefore flexibility in start times is required.
**Please note**:
- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
- Oxford Health is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
