**Head of Health & Safety (UK) - for a growing international food and beverage business**
**Job Type**: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours a week.
Based from either Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton Airport - this role will be required to travel between our other airport sites on a regular basis.
**Salary: £47,000 per annum based on 40 hours a week.**

We are a family-run Australian business that operates food and beverage outlets at airports, creating exceptional experiences for all our customers. We have recently opened a number of new sites, with more to follow early in 2023, and are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual to join us at this exciting stage for our business.
You will be a seasoned and process-driven individual, with broad exposure to food safety management procedures and a love for detail. A qualified specialist (or QBE with significant level of experience) you’ll also be an excellent communicator. You will be comfortable in a fast paced and demanding, growth environment, able to prioritise and recognise health & safety issues linked to operational decisions and willing to challenge/escalate things, on occasion.
**About the role**:
An integral part of the ARE team, reporting directly to the Directors, this role is responsible for overseeing compliance standards in all areas of Food Safety Management / Health & Safety.
The post holder is responsible for, monitoring, maintaining and developing and leading standards across all ARE sites.
The main duties are:
Develop, implement and maintain clear policies and standards for FSMS and H&S across the company
Work with Operations Manager to measure and manage site performance in line with policies
Responsibility for all FSMS and H&S systems, to ensure these are appropriate, efficient and utilised correctly
Risk assessment overview across the business (including pre-employment health assessments)
Work alongside Directors on development of ARE’s environmental and sustainability policies and goals
Contribute to development of new concepts and design of new sites from safety, environmental and sustainability perspective
Oversight of supplier networks from a FSMS/H&S perspective - including quality assurance
Procure, develop and oversee all safety related training across the company, including induction and ongoing/refresher training (with the understanding that may be delivered personally, by third parties or other internal team members - as appropriate).
Maintain relationship with Primary Authority Partnership and other authorities, including Licensing Authorities (landside sites only)
Ensure appropriate election of H&S representatives on site and manage the relationship with them on an ongoing basis - including suitable training and support
Attend and act as key contributor at regular Health & Safety Committee Meetings. (H&S Committee Meetings are Chaired independently from the role)
Functional involvement in probationary reviews - to ensure FSMS, H&S and training targets are being met
Handle incident and complaint escalations in relation to FSMS/H&S
Handle H&S incident/accident/near miss reports and follow ups
PPE overview
Pandemic planning/guidance and compliance with government rules and advice
Oversee compliance paperwork documents and logs, including:
H & S Audit reports - internal and external
Food safety inspections and ratings
Risk Proof
Training records
Occupational health documentation, including induction documents
Food handler checks
Sickness/holiday absence paperwork - ensuring compliance with food safety standards on return to work
Accident reports
Food safety incident reports
**Essential requirements**:
We will be shortlisting applicants based upon the following criteria:
- Proof of your right to work in the UK.
**Qualifications**
- Professional Health & Safety qualification (or similar by experience).
- NEBOSH (General Certificate or above)
- IOSH membership
- COSHH trained
**Relevant experience**
- Significant senior level experience in relation to food safety management systems
- Previous knowledge of the hospitality industry from a health & safety perspective - _preferred but not essential_
- Introduction/development of safe systems of work, in an operational kitchen environment
**Knowledge, skills and abilities**
