**Your new role**

At National Highways, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Statistician to join our team based in Birmingham, Exeter, or Manchester. This role will give you the opportunity to use your statistical expertise and experience to produce high-quality analysis on the performance of England’s motorways and major A roads. You will be working with traffic, road safety and customer satisfaction data, and creating both technical reports and insightful commentaries for non-analysts.

A key part of your role will be to provide statistical advice and guidance across the organisation, so you’ll need to be a great communicator with a confident working knowledge of a broad range of statistical techniques. You will have great inter-personal skills to enable you to work closely with internal and external stakeholders.

**What you’ll be leading on**
- Statistical analysis into the customer satisfaction, safety and performance of England’s motorways and major A roads. Producing analytically assured reports and outputs that communicate the insight effectively.
- Providing high-quality statistical advice across the organisation
- Developing the statistical capability of the team and the wider organisation
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with analysts across the organisation to champion consistent analytical approaches

**To be successful you’ll need**
- Excellent communication skills and an engaging communication style, with the ability to present with impact to a range of audiences.
- A track-record of working collaboratively and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
- A practical understanding of a range of statistical methods, with the ability to support others to use them appropriately.
- Experience of designing and producing statistical analyses to support decision making.
- Knowledge of R, Python, or another programming language for statistical data analysis

**A bit about us**

The role of the Network Analysis and Statistics group is to deliver analysis to support high priority decision making across the organisation. We support the business to use statistics appropriately. We develop and report some of the company’s performance metrics, and we play a key role in developing the Performance Specification, published within the Roads Investment Strategy.

We are located within the Company’s Customer, Strategy and Communications Directorate. We work with our analytical colleagues across the Chief Analyst’s Division to create the evidence base to support future investment planning.
