We currently have a vacancy for a qualified accountant/tax advisor to join our team as an Indirect Tax Specialist.

This is a full-time, permanent role. It is primarily based from our office in Larbert, however there will be opportunity to work remotely from home two days a week.

This role provides an excellent opportunity within the UK’s largest independent retailer of fuels and lubricants.

The role is part of the Tax and Compliance team of four and reports to the Head of Tax. You will have responsibility for ensuring that the company meets its compliance obligations in respect of its Excise Duty taxes, in particular its Registered Dealers in Controlled Oils (‘RDCO’) compliance obligations. This will involve the preparation and submission of RDCO returns on a monthly basis. In addition this role will become the key contact with sales and depot teams for any RDCO compliance queries they may have.

The role of Indirect Tax Specialist will also be responsible for identifying tax risks arising in respect of RDCO processes and escalating any issues identified when required.

**Experience desired for the position of **Indirect Tax and Duty Accountant** are**:

- Qualified Accountant or Tax Advisor.
- Experience in indirect tax and duties is desirable
- Experience RDCO is desirable but not necessary (training will be given)
- Critical thinking skills to interrogate data and processes to improve the control environment
- Strong communications skills required to challenge and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Ability to manage a variety of different projects
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to interact with senior management
