We are looking for a Farm Worker to join a hardworking and experienced team at Wimpole Home Farm.

Primarily caring for the rare breed cattle, sheep, pigs and goats, you'll also support the heavy horse team when needed. As a busy working farm, open to our visitors throughout the year, we are looking for a friendly, hard working individual, who will take pride in delivering a great visitor experience alongside maintaining excellent animal welfare standards and breeding programmes.

What it's like to work here:You will report to the Farm Operations Manager, alongside the four other members of the livestock and equine teams. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to further your knowledge alongside the team, through both gaining experience and training, including operating farm machinery, pre-tup work, livestock management and handling, annual veterinary requirements, breeding programmes, volunteer management, handling equines, to name a few.

Home Farm is a busy and bustling visitor farm. Caring for and farming rare breed cattle, sheep, pigs and goats as well as Shire horses, ponies, donkeys and poultry. We are proud to maintain the highest of welfare standards, whilst safely welcoming around 300,000 visitors to the estate each year. As part of our conservation the sheep and cattle graze the historic parkland setting. Our aim is to provide our visitors with fun and memorable days out whilst sharing our farming knowledge and expertise, through our friendly teams of staff and volunteers.

What you'll be doing:You'll be joining the farm team in the delivery of an excellent visitor experience at Home Farm, including maintaining high levels of presentation and safety across the farm site, whilst creating an environment to be enjoyed by our visitors all year round.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with the daily care, husbandry, health checks and welfare of the livestock across the farm and parkland, working with and leading the team of volunteers who work alongside the farm staff. At times you will also be required to provide cover for the equine team. As part of a hardworking team, who work in a warm and welcoming way with staff, volunteers and visitors, you will be a key part in delivering the conservation of our rare breeds and promoting the work achieved here though our farming story.

Who we're looking forTo deliver this role successfully, you'll need:

- Practical experience in livestock management and farming, supported by appropriate qualifications to level 3 or equivalent level of vocational experience
- To demonstrate an understanding of the animal welfare requirements as required under the animal welfare regulations and specifically in complying with the standards required under Freedom Food and Organic production
- Competence with machinery/equipment such as tractors, loaders and competence certificates or a willingness to gain qualifications
- Good people skills enabling you to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally
- Commitment to maintaining excellent customer service standards and experience of delivering this
- A love for nature, heritage breeds, conservation and the outdoors
- To be enthusiastic to learn and to share knowledge
