**Role**: Machine Inspector

**Location**: Heywood

**Role Type**: Permanent

**Salary**:£32,000 per annum

**About the role**:
Based in a busy production area made up of Electrical and Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Goods In workers with responsibility for inspecting and testing components before they are assembled onto the machine.

**Main Responsibilities**:
**Management**:

- Maintaining standard procedures for quality inspection of all components and sub-assemblies
- Maintaining standard procedures for rejection of delivered items on quality issues
- Liaising with suppliers

**Quality**:

- Inspecting all critically dimensioned components and test vacuum integrity of sub-assemblies
- Ensuring that they are of the expected standard of quality
- Confirming that the specification matches the order
- Liaising closely with Purchasing and Engineering to align rejection recommendations
- Ensuring completion of correct paperwork and follow up actions
- Inspecting of all machined components where required
- Vacuum testing of machine components
- Pressure testing of components and sub-assemblies

**Development**:

- Contributing to ideas/innovation for continuous improvement
- Willing to develop existing skills

**Skills and experience required**:

- Practical understanding of engineering gained through a time served apprenticeship as a Fitter with a Mechanical bias preferred
- Willingness to travel on a worldwide basis around 4 times a year
- Experience of using computerised digital measuring equipment or willing to be trained to use it
- Experience of using surface measuring equipment
- Computer literate
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to read Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges and Indicators
- Strong problem solving skills

**Desirable Experience**:

- Crane/lifting equipment
- Vacuum systems
- Pneumatic, hydraulic, machine controls, rotating machinery and other mechanical systems
- Capital machinery
- Gas Safety training
