CISWO is a national charity whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals and communities facing disadvantage due to the impact of the coal mining industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Cleaner/Kitchen Assistant based in our social centre in Pontefract which delivers a welcoming and inclusive environment for a diverse client group including ex miners and those with disabilities.

As Cleaner/Kitchen Assistant you will:

- Clean the building to a schedule including sweeping, vacuuming and mopping of the floors, cleaning the toilets, emptying bins, dusting and wiping down communal surfaces etc.
- Periodic deep clean of key areas.
- Stock taking of cleaning supplies and ensuring facilities are stocked up e.g. soap dispensers
- Set rooms up as per user instructions and tidy away
- Welcoming external users of the building and informing them of fire exits etc.
- Occasional running of the tea / snack bar for external users
- Assisting in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals and snacks in accordance with specified menus and any other associated duties e.g. stock control, kitchen cleaning duties (only on specified day), correct food handling and storage.
- Ensure the outside areas are free from debris and rubbish
- Lock the building up at night
- Proven work experience as a cleaner and knowledge of cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals/supplies and how to use them safely
- Good customer service skills
- Flexible for the needs of the Organisation
- Knowledge of various cooking methods (baking, grilling, boiling etc.)
- Experience in using cutting tools, bakeware and cookware
- Food hygiene certificate level 2

This role will require a satisfactory DBS check due to the nature of our client group.
