An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our organisation as a Mechanical Estates Officer. You will be responsible for the economic and efficient use of all direct and contract site labour and materials to ensure that maximum value for money is received from the use of available resources and that the estate is maintained as a safe and warm environment. The ability to develop good customer relationships is essential for this post.

Whilst this post is based at Harefield Hospital, the post holder will be also be required to provide support to colleagues based at the Royal Brompton Hospital in order to ensure the continuity of service provision.

You will be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff in the Mechanical Section/Works Estates Department. You will play a key role in the management of the Trust's Mechanical Estates Section.

To manage various trade and labour groups, in a wide variety of different situations. Form, maintain and motivate an efficient maintenance team.

To liaise with service users to enable work to be timed and planned in advance.

To support the Estates Operations Manager in the implementation and day to day management of a Computer Aided Facility Management System.

Identify and recognise opportunities and potential within the organisation and other areas affecting the organisation. To plan and make arrangements to capitalise upon or minimise the effects of any such changes.

To encourage, through the workforce, the identification of potential problems and the communication of this information to Estates & Facilities Management, for inclusion in maintenance plans.

To assist Capital Projects, Estates Operations Manager and any appropriate Project Manager in the overseeing and control of any contractors operating on site.

To maintain plans and records as appropriate, for the efficient functioning of the Estates Department, including supporting information for monitoring of the directly employed labour force.

Maintain acceptable standards of productivity and workmanship, ensuring that statutory and other relevant requirements are observed, particularly those related to health & safety.

To assist in the preparation and implementation of policies as required.

Identify training and other staff needs ensuring continuing staff development in line with maintenance service requirements
