We are seeking to appoint a talented Chief Executive to provide strong leadership and creative thinking at a time of great challenge for the NHS.

The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist provider, dealing primarily with elective Orthopaedics from Shropshire, North and Mid Wales. It also boasts a dedicated spinal injuries unit and a bone and soft tissue tumour service.

With a reputation for innovation, the Trust provides a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal surgical, medical and rehabilitation services locally, nationally, and internationally. We are at the cutting edge of medical excellence, with a growing research programme.

Reporting to, and working closely with the Chair of the Trust, you will provide exceptional leadership. Recognising our place within the Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin Integrated Care System, you will also work closely with system partners to ensure that we are developing and delivering excellent holistic healthcare for our population.

The post holder is the most senior executive member of the Trust Board and leads the development of the vision for the strategic direction of the Trust. The Chief Executive is accountable to the Trust Board for the performance and governance of the Trust in the delivery of high-quality care, taking account of the needs of the local population.

The National Health Service Act 2006 designates the Chief Executive of NHS trust as the accounting officer with the personal duty of signing the Trust's accounts and, as such, is directly accountable to NHSEI for organisational performance and for ensuring the Trust meets all statutory and service obligations.

As a key partner of the local health and care system the Trust makes a significant contribution to the development of the Integrated Care System (ICS). The Chief Executive is expected to join the system wide CEO leadership group and undertake a significant pan-ICS leadership role focussing on MSK services and Planned Care whilst supporting the development of the ICS.

- Lead the Trust's Executive Team in the effective day to day running of the Trust.
- Work with the Chair to ensure effective operation of the Trust Board and the visibility of all Board members throughout the Organisation.
- Work with the Board and the Executive Team to promote and deliver the Trust's vision, values, aims and strategic priorities.
- Plan for and lead successful organisational change, generating commitment to change and building change management capability within the organisation.
- Ensure that staff understand the vision and strategic direction of the Trust and their role in delivering it.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, staff, the public, other NHS bodies and the media.
- Ensure the development of effective partnership working with external stakeholders including service users and carers, patient, community and voluntary sector groups, commissioners, PCNs, other health providers, local authorities, and politicians.
- Establish and develop mechanisms to ensure that the Trust has excellent leadership at all levels within the management structure, including arrangements to assess and develop leadership talent in both clinical and managerial roles. To be an advocate for the right of staff to speak up with freedom and support, providing confidence for staff to raise concerns.
