We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking physician to join our department as a member of our Sport and Exercise medicine consultant team.

This will be a substantive position working at the Institute of sport, exercise, and health (ISEH) providing proactive and reactive medical care to a diverse range of patients with sports injuries and those using physical activity for health improvement. Their role will involve preventing injuries, diagnosing, and managing musculoskeletal and medical conditions, supporting athletes, and contributing to the growth of sports medicine services at ISEH and UCLH.

This is a part time post (5 PAs). The post-holder will agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Director once in post.

**Some of the main duties will include**:
Provide accurate diagnosis and care plans for patients with musculoskeletal injuries or illness who would like to exercise/compete, or for whom exercise would be beneficial.

Active team member in UCLH specialist clinics

Provide clinical oversight to patients who require conservative care

Active leadership in developing and running multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings at ISEH, i.e. making their clinical expertise available to other clinicians and allied healthcare professionals in the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Participate in clinical audits to improve the quality of care provided to ISEH patients.

Plan, support and deliver educational and professional development opportunities that will enhance the quality of clinical care

The appointee will be expected to fully contribute to the administrative, teaching and research activities within the department. All consultants represent the department on various committees within the trust as well as taking responsibility for particular delegated areas according to their interests and availability. The Clinical Director is responsible for delegating these responsibilities.

The appointee will contribute to the teaching of medical students and trainee Doctors and to participate in weekly postgraduate meetings of the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department as well as audit, governance and training meetings

Background

The Trauma and Orthopaedic department offers comprehensive care for the whole spectrum of traumatic and non
- traumatic orthopaedic conditions and works closely with Rheumatologists, Oncologists, and Radiologists and with the Accident and Emergency department. The orthopaedic surgical team operate out of 4 orthopaedic laminar flow theatres daily - in addition to other day case and main theatre space. Clinics are delivered in the main outpatient department in University College Hospital, with specialist clinics also running from the Institute of Sports Exercise and Health.

Academic Activities

The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health is based on the Bloomsbury campus. The Institute of Orthopaedics is based at the Stanmore CAMPUS but is part of University College London. You will have access to their facilities and will be encouraged to take forward academic developments in your specialty.
