**The Park Surgery - Phlebotomist**

The Park Surgery has recently joined the Inspire Group. The group is guided by a passionate team of six dedicated GP Partners. Inspire is comprised of 5 general practice surgeries working across three of Gloucestershire’s Primary Care Networks (PCN’s) - TWNS, South Cotswolds and St Paul's PCN.

**Main Duties and General Administrative Responsibilities**:
As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for drawing blood samples from patients and ensuring their safe and accurate collection. Your attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be crucial to your success in this role.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients in accordance with practice protcols
- Collect blood samples and ensure proper labeling and documentation
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the phlebotomy area
- Adhere to aseptic techniques during all procedures
- Monitor patient comfort and safety during blood collection procedures
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have
- Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Phlebotomist in a hospital, GP setting or other clinical setting
- Proficient in basic life support techniques
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to phlebotomy
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in specimen processing

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
- Current certification as a Phlebotomist (CPT) preferred but not required
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately
