**Post Title**:

**Purpose**:

- To support individual students and groups of students to access learning
- To support teachers in enabling students to learn

**Reporting to**:
SENDCo

**Liaising with**:
Assistant SENDCo, teaching & support staff

**Working time**:
Term time only

**Salary**:
NJC Pt 5 (£21,575) Pro Rata - term time only

**MAIN (Core) DUTIES**

**Main tasks**
- As a member of the education support team to work with and under the direction of the SENDCo & Assistant SENDCo.
- Ensure the safeguarding of all students within the Academy and report any concerns or referrals directly through CPOMS or to the DSL.
- Ensure all students follow the behavior policy of the Academy including the basic 10 expectations.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed as requested by the SENDCo/Assistant SENDCO including for example; behaviour audits, SEND surveys and inputting of data to record student progress.
- Support the learning of students in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
- Targeted intervention with 1:1/small groups to enhance learning progress during timetabled lessons and also supporting the whole school literacy and oracy focus with guided interventions such as reading and ensure the reading intervention is recorded.
- Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, including those with specific needs, both in the classroom as part of first-quality teaching and through intervention work.
- Attend all briefings, meetings, training days and duties, along with sharing good practice with members of staff as part of the commitment to own and others’ professional development.
- Support with exam access arrangements.
- Support or be responsible for the provision and delivery of after school learning activities (end of school day) for example, clubs, extra-curricular activities within guidelines established by the school.
- Be a person that students can trust and be available to provide social emotional and mental health (SEMH) support to students and ensure any concerns are referred on.
- Carry out duties including break and lunch time as well as exam invigilation, reading and scribing as and when required.
- Undertake such other duties commensurate with ability as may be reasonably required by the Principal in the pursuit of the Academy’s mission.

**Information management**
- To support and contribute to the keeping records on students as requested.
- Responsible for data entry on students as requested and use it to inform future planning.
- Supporting the testing of students including base line assessment including the invigilation of students with additional exam requirements.

As a team member
- To work within the team and to have an area of responsibility for example, OSSEME, supporting students with Dyslexia, reading recovery, interventions, EAL, but also have an understanding and working knowledge of other roles to enable support across the team at times of critical workload.
- To promote teamwork and work with others to ensure effective working relationships.
- To participate in the Academy's Professional Development Review process both in terms of self and other staff as appropriate.

**Quality Assurance**:

- To participate in the Academy quality assurance policy and a whole Academy approach to self-assessment.

**Communications**:

- To develop and implement effective communication systems and procedures.
- To communicate and refer any relevant incidents to the appropriate person, i.e. Designated Safeguarding Lead, Year Manager and/or Form Tutor.

**Marketing**:

- To ensure the promotion of a welcoming environment to students, visitors and callers.
- To contribute to the creation of an engaging and purposeful learning environment by displaying students’ work and assessment for learning information.

**Health and Safety**
- To ensure that all students in your care are safe.
- To have an understanding of safeguarding and the actions you must take in given circumstances and the reporting procedures.

**Corporate Responsibility**:

- To actively promote the Academy's corporate policies, eg Health & Safety Policy and Equal Opportunities, etc.

**Training**:

- To continue one's own personal development in relevant areas.
- To actively engage in, take advantage of opportunities for and contribute to Continuing Professional Development.
