- This role will lead the implementation of a programme of activity to bring the documentation of legacy loans in and out in line with current policies. You will be part of a growing team of registrars in Collections Registration working collaboratively to develop existing processes and implement a new framework for this type of work across entry, acquisition, disposal, and exit. As a Registrar, you will have demonstrable experience of collections management and can use your knowledge of the legal, ethical and policy environment, and your ability to analyse museum records, to determine ownership and implement robust and risk-aware collections development decisions.

You will take responsibility for all elements of the legacy loans project, from securing all relevant approvals and liaising with internal colleagues on issues such as hazard and risk assessment, and hand off acquisitions and disposals to the Acquisition and Disposals Manager, to identifying new recipients for items and managing a compliant exit process. In addition, your duties will include:
**Project management**
- Project manage a programme of activity to bring the documentation of legacy loans in and out in line with current policies.
- Supporting the Head of Collections Registration by reporting the status of legacy loans to ensure risk and liability is understood and managed through the delivery of prioritised projects.
- Lead a programme of work streams, ensuring that the extent of exposure is known and all liabilities and risk to the Museum in connection to loans are managed effectively and enhance the Museum’s national and international profile.
- Under the IWM’s recognised Project Management Framework take responsibility for driving forward every element of your designated projects; from project design and delivery to remedying issues that arise whilst bringing clarity to the interfaces with your peers.
- Create, maintain, and disseminate the project management documentation including budgets, schedules. Issue logs, change control logs, risk registers and progress reports and agree these with key stakeholders.

**Project reporting**
- Identify, recommend, and seek relevant internal (Collections Development Committee) and external approvals for items, and implement suitable remedies with respect to all legacy loans.
- Attend the Collections Development Committee as required, presenting reports and recommendations.

**Teamworking**
- Working with colleagues across IWM and peer organisations to develop, schedule, and deliver work to remedy legacy issues with the status of loans in and out; for example, but not limited to, working with exhibition and productions managers and technicians, curators, conservation, transport agents, project delivery, and visual resources staff. You will be sufficiently skilled to recommend appropriate models (for example the use of Government Indemnity Scheme/ insurance) and advocate for the needs of the loan items.

**Collections Management**
- You will implement digital developments. Managing accurate loan administration within the collections management system. For example, contracts/agreements, condition reports and images, insurance/indemnity, and management data. Thereby ensuring that you manage timely loan renewal or other actions (as appropriate).
- Support the Head of Collections Registration in projects to enhance systems and processes to streamline tasks.

**Line management**
- You will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of your team’s work programme (Assistant Registrars and others working in the team) and ensure interfaces with the wider elements of collections development.

**Personal development**
- Act as a deputy for the Head of Collections Registration as appropriate.
- Represent IWM at internal and external events, providing expert advice, as required. On occasion this might include acting as a courier.
- You will proactively seek professional development with respect to collections management, to ensure the team is continually improving.
