Apprentice Early Years Educator

To work as an apprentice Early Years Educator within our term time pre-school under the direction of the Preschool Manager to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.

Main Duties
- To assist with the planning of the curriculum Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- To help set up the playroom for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of a session.
- To act as a keyworker to a group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- To advise the preschool leader of any concerns e.g. over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
- To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
- To attend internal and external training courses / sessions and meetings as required.
- To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Preschool leader, in accordance with the preschool’s business plan/objectives.
- To ensure all observations and evaluations are kept up to date as required via the adopted methods. I.e. tapestry etc.
- To plan activities relevant to the children’s stage of development.
- To help maintain all preschool equipment.
- To become a positive role model and supervise students where and when the need arises.
- To attend any and all staff and planning meetings. Which could be outside normal hours.
- To maintain an appropriate first aid certificate.
- To settle in new children, liaising with parents.
- To liaise with parents of key children.
- To keep abreast of current childcare issues and attend training as necessary.
- To work effectively as part of the team.
- To help in preparing activities, outside nursery hours if necessary.
- Adhering to Policies and Procedures of Huntington Kinder Class in compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation within the guidelines of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained within the setting at all times.
- To provide excellent care and supervision of children with regards to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
- To offer all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenge situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
- You will be required to work with the rest of the team on planning and preparation activities, to meet the children’s individual needs whilst ensuring effective communication within the setting.
- To ensure positive management of children’s behaviour.
- You will provide supervision of lunches and partake in the preparation of snack during sessions.
- You may be asked to undertake other duties from time to time to meet the needs of the setting.
- You may be asked to work in other settings beyond your normal place of work. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Working towards a Level II or III Certificate in Preschool Practice/Early Years, NVQ Level II or equivalent as a minimum.
