Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce a new Clinical Research Fellowship in association with the University of Liverpool.

The Fellowship is a full-time research post under the supervision of Professor Dharani Hapangama, Professor of Gynaecology. It includes a clinical component.

This post is intended to provide a clinical and research basis for a senior trainee looking towards Subspecialist training in Gynae Oncology and will provide clinical support for both Gynae Oncology and also the general Obstetrics and Gynaecology junior doctor rota.

The trainee will follow the Postgraduate Research Development Programme (PGR), which includes formal training courses and provides advanced transferable generic research skills and will have structured supervision, recording their monthly PGR activity in an online portfolio, and the progress will be regularly reviewed during monthly supervisory meetings and the external review/assessment at the end of each academic year.

Gynae Oncology

Mentorship from Consultant colleagues will be provided.

On-Call

The post holder will participate in the Second on-call Tier 3 rota (depending on experience) which is a full shift. An option for 50% on call rota is offered.

Education and training

Participation in a continuous training and education programme for all clinical staff is a requirement of this post. Involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching & training would also be expected.

Research

Laboratory facilities are available within the University Department, and there are close collaborative links with several other departments in the university of Liverpool. Participating in the weekly laboratory meeting, updating progress in the academic work to the research team and present in the weekly journal club pro rota. They will be expected to formulate a project with the team suitable for a higher degree, and register with University of Liverpool. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in current and new Gynae Oncology research teaching, and a target of presentations, publications and first author papers will be developed within the personalised research project at the outset of the post, and will be a requirement for continued employment. GCP training will be mandatory and further advanced laboratory projects suitable for their individual projects will be provided.
