As a Teaching Assistant/Support Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting students aged 5 to 11 years, ensuring they thrive academically and emotionally.
**Position Details**:
- **Job Title**: Teaching Assistant/Support Worker
- **Age Group**: 5 - 11 years
- **Location**: Southampton, Hampshire
- **Pay Rate**: £83 - £90 per day
- **Working Hours**: Monday to Friday (8.30am - 3.30pm)
**Responsibilities**: As a Teaching Assistant/Support Worker working with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), you will:
- **Prepare Learning Materials**: Collaborate with teachers to create and adapt learning materials based on individual student needs.
- **Provide Individualized Support**: Work both inside and outside the classroom to support individual learners or groups. Adapt your approach to cater to diverse learning needs.
- **Promote Independence**: Assist students with personal care tasks (such as feeding, toileting, and mobility) while encouraging their independence.
- **Look After Students’ Welfare**: Attend to students’ physical, social, and emotional well-being.
- **Create a Stimulating Environment**: Foster a positive and engaging learning environment for the children you work with.
**Transferable Skills**: The responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant/Support Worker align closely with the skills required in care and support roles. These skills include:
- **Empathy and Patience**: Supporting students with SEND requires understanding and patience, similar to caring for individuals with additional needs.
- **Adaptability**: Just as you adapt your teaching approach, you’ll need to be flexible and adaptable in a care/support setting.
- **Effective Communication**: Clear communication with students, teachers, and parents is essential for success.
- **Observation and Sensitivity**: Recognizing students’ cues and responding appropriately mirrors the sensitivity needed in care work.
